System Design

After we have chosen the software together, we can discuss the requirements for its implementation.

We'll discuss:
00000006.gif How many work stations will be required?
00000006.gif Will remote locations need to be served?
00000006.gif How many and what types of forms (and printers) will be required?
00000006.gif Where will all of these units be located?
00000006.gif Will graphics-quality monitors be required?
00000006.gif What security is desired?

What reliability will be required, i.e., will it be O.K. to restore a system malfunction in four hours, or is it necessary to have immediate total back-up or continuous, uninterrupted operation?

All of these questions, and many others, must be answered before the system can be proposed. The simpler the system, the easier it is to design. But these types of questions must be answered, even for a very small system.

Connectco favors a robust system, designed to keep the client's business running smoothly and reliably. Therefore, Connectco will only propose reliable hardware from quality manufacturers. We will not propose cheap hardware from fly-by-night suppliers. In the long run, the lack of parts, support, or disappearing warranties would be far more costly than the immediate savings from cheap hardware.

Connectco first works systematically with each client to develop the answers. Then Connectco will propose software, hardware, networks, training, and support to meet the client's unique needs. Connectco will provide a comprehensive, easy to understand, fairly priced proposal.

This is Connectco-style system design.
