The Connectco staff includes Gold Certified Novell Engineers
(CNE), skilled in both software and hardware implementation of networks. We
have designed, installed, and presently support, Novell networks with multiple
powerful servers and over 50 work stations. |
|
We have access to the most reliable and cost-effective
hardware, since we are Authorized Resellers for Compaq, HP, AST, Acer, Atlantic
Computer, IBM, and many high-quality providers of peripherals. |
|
First, Connectco and the client will decide upon the
location of the network server or servers, each and every work station, and all
the peripherals. Then the CNE will choose the appropriate hubs, servers,
printer servers, and other network hardware to implement a noise-free, speedy
network to accepted network standards. |
|
When the client requires communications to remote locations,
the CNE will select the most cost-effective option or options. Those options
could be fiber optics, leased telephone lines, microwave, or other means. The
CNE will select the proper modems for remote locations. |
|
The CNE will select a communications software package to
provide the required level of security for the network to remote locations. The
CNE will specify security sufficient to assure that the client's proprietary
data will not be available to outsiders. |
|
Connectco utilizes one of the best network cabling firms,
Cablemasters, to design and install the cabling system. This includes one or
more plug boards, the best data cable and other station-specific termination
hardware. When Cablemasters install the cabling, they check the terminations to
insure error-free data transmittal at accepted speeds. |
|
The selection of the server or servers is of great
importance and is done carefully by the CNE. Large networks often use redundant
servers. For example, one server may implement the business system while the
other implements the office automation system. This redundancy assures high
speed for both business and office automation over the same cable network.
|
|
Servers can be small and simple for small businesses, or can
be complex, with large RAM, several redundant hard drives, and multiple
processors. The choice depends on the client's requirements and budget.
|
|
For reasons of reliability and support, Connectco favors
servers with self-diagnostics and on-site manufacturer's warranty support for
long periods. These are available only from reputable, stable manufacturers.
Self-diagnostics and a long manufacturer's warranty provide peace of mind. They
are worth the small additional cost when considered as part of the entire
system. |
|
The CNE, working with the client, will recommend whether to
upgrade any existing computer or network hardware to work with the new system,
or whether all new hardware is required. He will try to utilize existing
hardware where it is cost-effective, and will, in any case, offer the pros and
cons of alternate schemes, as well as his own recommendations, to the client
for his decision. |
